‘Sanditon’ stars hint at ‘romance, fun, tears’ and ‘an Austen ending’ in Season 3

The cast of Sanditon have provided some new teasers about the next season.

Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, the hit period drama launched three years ago on ITV.

After the emotional rollercoaster of the show’s cancellation and subsequent surprise renewalSanditon returned earlier this year on PBS in the US and streaming on BritBox in the UK.

UK viewers who’ve not got BritBox can currently catch the second season of Sanditon on Friday nights on ITV.

Luckily for fans, the second and third seasons were shot back to back, so the next season of Sanditon has already finished filming.

While we’ve learned that a couple of characters sadly won’t be returning, we do have some little hints about what to expect when Season 3 arrives.

Rose Williams, who plays Charlotte, revealed to PBS recently: “In Season 3, we see characters meeting with their own unique challenges and really having to dig into deep parts of themselves to find resolve.”

She said: “I hope they come together at the end and maybe even they get their happily ever after, like we always wanted them to—an Austen ending, like it’s tied in a bow.”

Meanwhile, Georgiana actress Crystal Clarke hinted: “You’re going to see parties, you’re going to see glam. It’s exciting. It’s a highly caffeinated Sanditon.”

Discussing her hopes for her character, she explained: “My hope for Georgiana is identity—I hope she figures out. I hope she is able to learn and have more of an understanding of who she is, and not just through other people’s eyes.”

Clarke added: “I hope that journey comes to a conclusion for her.”

Ben Lloyd-Hughes, who plays Colbourne, teased: “I think Season 3 will bring even more excitement, romance, fun, and tears in both forms.”

As for how things were left with Colbourne and Charlotte at the end of the second season, Lloyd-Hughes confirmed he’ll definitely be back: “I think one thing for sure is that this is not the end of the story. We know that, 100%, and that is really exciting.”

Season 3 will premiere in early 2023 on PBS in the US and on BritBox in the UK, before airing on ITV in the UK next summer.
