‘The Crown’ trailer for Season 6 Part 1 teases Diana’s final weeks
A brand new trailer for The Crown has been released!
Netflix‘s fictional dramatisation of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign returns to our screens very soon for its final season.
7 years after the award-winning period drama series began with Claire Foy, the show welcomes back Imelda Staunton (Downton Abbey, Harry Potter) as the Queen, following her Season 5 debut in 2022.
She’s joined once again by Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager) as Princess Diana, Dominic West (SAS Rogue Heroes) as Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce (Wolf Hall) as Prince Philip, and Lesley Manville (World on Fire) as Princess Margaret.
It was announced earlier this month that the final season of The Crown will be released on Netflix in two halves.
Comprising four episodes continuing the show’s focus on Princess Diana, the first part of Season 6 arrives on Thursday 16 November.
A six-part second batch of episodes follows on Thursday 14 December, with Queen Elizabeth II reflecting on her reign and looking ahead to a time when her successors will take the throne.
An emotional and foreboding new two-minute trailer for Season 6 Part 1 dropped yesterday, providing a dramatic preview of the events to come as The Crown nears its conclusion:
Commenters on YouTube were particularly full of praise for Debicki’s portrayal of Princess Diana.
“Elizabeth Debicki truly deserves all the appreciation for playing Diana! Emma Corrin slayed as the younger Diana too and now she’s carrying the torch,” wrote one.
Another fan suggested that the actress “deserves an Emmy for this role,” writing: “The sheer intensity and depth of how she had to morph herself into Diana is insane! Diana was so distinct; her speech, mannerisms, quirks…”
“Can you imagine how much time, dedication and effort it took to learn those and then perform them so nonchalantly and naturally?” they added. “This has to be the best portrayal of Diana I have ever seen.”
One viewer went even further, noting that “it’s creepy how much Elizabeth looks like Diana in some shots. For a moment you think it’s really her.”
