Watch fun trailer for Richard III discovery movie ‘The Lost King’

The Lost King has unveiled its first trailer and this looks really entertaining!

The upcoming British movie tells the remarkable true story of how one ‘ordinary’ woman overcame every obstacle to track down the final resting place of King Richard III – the last English king to die in battle – and give him an honourable burial.

Arriving in cinemas this autumn, it’s made by the director and writers of the Oscar-nominated Philomena.

Watch the trailer:

The official synopsis reads: “In 2012, having been lost for over 500 years, the remains of King Richard III were discovered beneath a carpark in Leicester.

“The search had been orchestrated by an amateur historian, Philippa Langley, whose unrelenting research had been met with incomprehension by her friends and family and with scepticism by experts and academics.

The Lost King is the life-affirming true story of a woman who refused to be ignored and who took on the country’s most eminent historians, forcing them to think again about one of the most controversial kings in England’s history.”

Sally Hawkins from the Paddington movies leads the cast, alongside Steve Coogan (Stan & Ollie), with Harry Lloyd (The Theory of Everything, The Iron Lady) playing Richard III.

Steve Coogan has also co-written the script with screenwriter Jeff Pope (Mrs Biggs, Cilla), while Stephen Frears (Victoria & Abdul) has directed the film.

Coogan previously commented: “Philippa Langley’s passion, hard work and determination literally changed history, and we all felt it was important that her and Richard III’s story was told.”

The Lost King will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 7th October, coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of the discovery of Richard III’s remains.

Sally Hawkins is expected to return in the much-anticipated third Paddington movie!
