Netflix reveals first trailer for new ‘Vikings’ spin-off series ‘Valhalla’
An exciting teaser has been unveiled for Vikings: Valhalla.
Inspired by the sagas of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, Vikings launched in 2013 and the historical drama ended in 2019.
There’s more Vikings action on the way, however, as Netflix has been planning a follow-up series before the final season of Vikings had even aired!
Featuring “new era of warriors,” Vikings: Valhalla will feature “the most famous Vikings known to history.”
The upcoming spin-off series is set a hundred years after the original show, and began shooting last summer in Ireland.
The cast was revealed earlier this year, featuring Leo Suter (Sanditon), Sam Corlett (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Frida Gustavsson (Swoon), and Bradley Freegard (Keeping Faith).
They’ll be joined by Jóhannes Jóhannesson (Cursed), Laura Berlin (Immenhof – The Adventure of a Summer), David Oakes (The Pillars of the Earth), Caroline Henderson (Tuya Siempre), Pollyanna McIntosh, and Asbjørn Krogh Nissen.
Netflix released the first footage from Vikings: Valhalla as part of the company’s global fan event Tadum on Saturday.

Vikings: Valhalla will premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2022.
The official synopsis reads: “The all-new Vikings: Valhalla begins in the early 11th century and chronicles the legendary adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived – Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, Harald Hardrada and the Norman King William the Conqueror.
“These men and women will blaze a path as they fight for survival in the ever changing and evolving world.”
Netflix Originals exec Channing Dungey has promised that Valhalla will feature “everything that fans love about the franchise: heart-pounding, unstoppable action rooted in rich characters and dramatic storytelling that shines the light on family, loyalty and power.”
Steve Stark, MGM’s President of Television Production and Development previously commented: “Valhalla has been a labor of love for everyone involved and as we look ahead to the continuation of this great saga, we are excited to know that fans the world over will have the opportunity to continue with the series on its new home at Netflix.”
Every episode of Vikings is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
