When does ‘Victoria’ Season 2 start on Masterpiece on PBS?

A second season of Victoria will begin in the US early next year, PBS has confirmed.

The eight brand new episodes and feature-length Christmas special will see Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) and Tom Hughes (The Game) return as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

Titled ‘A Soldier’s Daughter’, the first episode of Season 2 will air on Sunday 14 January 2018 on Masterpiece on PBS.

The new season picks up one month after Season 1’s finale in 1840 and establishes Victoria as a working mother, learning to balance her responsibilities as both parent and Queen. However, Prince Albert is still struggling to find a role for himself alongside his powerful wife as she returns to her duties, intent on proving that she can be both a mother and dedicated Queen.

New guest stars will include Dame Diana Rigg (Game of ThronesThe Avengers), Denis Lawson (New Tricks), Martin Compston (Line of Duty), Emerald Fennell (Call the Midwife), Jo Stone-Fewings (The Hollow Crown), Leo Suter (Maleficent) and Michael Maloney (Paranoid).

Victoria launched in the UK in August 2016 and premiered in the US earlier this year. Season 1 is available now on DVD.

Season 2 begins in the UK this weekend at 9.05pm on Sunday 27 August on ITV.
