Netflix’s new British movies and series for January 2024

Netflix welcomes in 2024 with a fresh load of movies and TV series to watch in the US!

The complete list of additions for January is as massive as ever, so here we’ve picked out the best titles for fans of British films and television to add to their watch list, as well as other historical dramas, period dramas, and classic movies we think you’d like.

The new year begins with every episode of Starz’s hit historical adventure television series, Black Sails. A prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, the series features a number of British stars, including Rupert Penry-Jones (Whitechapel), Harriet Walter (Downton Abbey), Ray Stevenson (Star Wars), and Toby Stephens (Die Another Day).

It’s also a great month for musical lovers, with both Mamma Mia! movies landing, as well as the original version of Annie and 2019’s adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.

Look out too for a new documentary series about Alexander the Great, and Netflix’s latest Harlan Coben thriller, Fool Me Once. This one’s all-star British cast features Michelle Keegan (Our Girl), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Adeel Akhtar (Victoria & Abdul), and Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous).

Fans of American dramas can enjoy Matt Damon’s 1960s spy drama The Good Shepherd, and Daniel Craig’s sci-fi Western movie Cowboys & Aliens, which provides exactly what you’d expect from that title.
