Luther – Season 5 (available from 1 July 2023)

Golden Globe and SAG Award-winner Idris Elba (Thor) returns to his iconic role, created by Emmy-nominated writer Neil Cross (Doctor Who).

When the moonless shadows of London give birth to a new nightmare, John Luther once again confronts the depths of human depravity. As a series of monstrous killings becomes more audacious, Luther and new recruit DS Catherine Halliday (Wunmi Mosaku, Loki) are confounded by a tangle of misdirection that seems to protect an unspeakable horror.

But as the case brings him closer than ever to the nature of true evil, a reluctant Luther faces the ghosts of his own past. Striding back into the line of fire, he must choose who to protect, and who to sacrifice. Whatever his next move, it will change John Luther forever.

The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes – Seasons 1-2 (available from 6 July 2023)

This series brings to life the many detectives of late Victorian London who were “The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes,” from R. Austin Freeman’s brilliant forensic expert Dr. John Thorndyke (John Neville, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen) to Arthur Morrison’s notorious villain, private inquiry agent Horace Dorrington (Peter Vaughan, Game of Thrones), William Hope Hodgson’s world-famous ghost hunter Carnacki, and Baroness Orczy’s detective Lady Molly (Elvi Hale, Bergerac) of Scotland Yard.

In The Footsteps of Killers – Season 2 (available from 13 July 2023)

Silent Witness star Emilia Fox and Professor David Wilson, Britain’s leading criminologist, return to investigate famous unsolved murder cases. By visiting the scenes of the crimes and reinvestigating the evidence, they attempt to get to the bottom of what really happened.

Silent Witness – Season 26 (available from 18 July 2023)

Award-winning crime drama Silent Witness returns for an exciting 26th series, with five more thrilling cases for the team at the Lyell Centre to solve.

Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and the team of forensic pathologists and scientists investigate intriguing new cases: a body falling from the top of a skyscraper, a people trafficking operation, a suspicious death at a festival, a train crash, and corrupt police officers.

The cases that end up at the Lyell Centre are rarely straightforward. Initial suspicions are challenged as the evidence mounts and Nikki and the team must work harder than ever to uncover the truth.

24 Hours in Police Custody – Season 10 (available from 21 July 2023)

This hit series returns, capturing an unprecedented insight into the workings of a modern-day police station.

With expanded and round-the-clock access to the units dealing with some of the most serious and difficult to solve crimes, the series follows dramatic cases in compelling detail. Each story plays out against the time pressure of only being able to hold a suspect in police custody for a maximum of 24 hours before that person must be charged or released.

These stories have all the intrigue and fascination of a police drama – but here they are very real.

Alan Carr’s Adventures with Agatha Christie (available from 26 July 2023)

Alan Carr (Alan Carr: Chatty Man), comedian, TV personality and lifelong Agatha Christie fanboy, is going on a very personal adventure in search of the quintessentially British places that inspired his literary heroine.

From the quaint villages of Miss Marple to the metropolitan Art Deco elegance of Poirot, this funny, fact-filled travelog is a glorious romp through Britain’s most beautiful landscapes, celebrating the woman who immortalized them in her writing and offering a fresh new perspective on her life and work.
