‘All Creatures’ confirms when this year’s Christmas special is on
It’s been announced when All Creatures Great & Small will air this festive season!
Based on author James Herriot’s much-loved collection of stories, a fourth run of the cosy period drama concluded in the UK last month.
We’re nervously waiting for news on whether All Creatures Great and Small will be renewed for a fifth season, but fortunately there’s a Christmas special already confirmed.
Watch the trailer here:
‘On a Wing and a Prayer’ finds James miles away at the RAF training base for Christmas 1940.
Following an emotional phone call with a very pregnant Helen, he’s determined to get back to her – will he find his way home in time for Christmas?
Meanwhile, Mrs Hall is busy preparing a community Christmas celebration in Darrowby, as Siegfried and Carmody argue over who will be Father Christmas this year.
“Writer Ben Vanstone always so beautifully captures something of both the joy and difficulty of Christmas,” commented executive producer Melissa Gallant.
“At the heart of this show is a found family who stand by each other, and their community, whatever challenges they face and there is something ultimately hopeful about that, especially in a country at war with so many of their own away,” she added.
The episode “duly delivers all the festive feels,” Gallant promises.
When’s the release date?
2023’s festive special premieres in the UK at 9pm on Thursday 21 December on Channel 5.
Fans across the pond will have to wait a little longer, as Season 4 doesn’t begin in the US until January.
The Christmas episode will air at 9/8c on Sunday 18 February 2024 on PBS Masterpiece.
Airing in the UK just before All Creatures on Thursday 21 December at 8pm on Channel 5 is the very exciting All Creatures Great & Small: Yorkshire Vet Special!
The one-off crossover episode brings together cast members from All Creatures and The Yorkshire Vet.
“It’s a real Christmas treat,” promises Channel 5’s factual Commissioning Editor, Greg Barnett.
“In sort of a “job swap” way, viewers will get to see behind the scenes at this year’s Christmas special whilst some of the actors experience Skeldale Practice first-hand and get taken to a couple of James Herriot’s favourite places,” he revealed.
Viewers with Acorn TV will also be able to watch the latest season of All Creatures when it premieres on the streaming service later this month.
All Creatures Great and Small is available to watch on PBS Masterpiece via Amazon Prime with a free 7-day trial.
