Call the Midwife‘s Facebook page previously wrote: “[The cast] are SO pleased to be back – and all really wanted to express their thanks to you for your wonderful and continued support for our drama.”

There will be plenty more Call the Midwife on the way too, as the show was renewed for another three seasons earlier this year.

We can now officially reveal that Season 11 will premiere in the UK at 8pm on Sunday 2nd January 2022 on BBC One.

The eight episodes will air on Sunday evenings through to the end of February.

The new season will then premiere on PBS in the US in the Spring.

In the meantime, Call the Midwife is back very soon with its annual feature-length Christmas special!

Set in December 1966, this year’s festive episode will air on Saturday 25th December on BBC One in the UK and on PBS in the US.

The official synopsis for the Christmas special reads: “Christmas promises to be a memorable one at Nonnatus House as Lucille (Leonie Elliott) and Cyril (Zephryn Taitte) prepare for their upcoming winter wedding.

“The Nonnatus team are faced with their busiest Christmas Day ever as the Maternity Home is filled with expectant Mums to be, each with their own challenging case.

“Luckily Mother Mildred (Miriam Margolyes) is on hand to support the team.”

Megan Cusack, who joined the cast in Season 10 as Nurse Nancy Corrigan, is very excited to be making her festive debut this year.

She commented: “It was my first Christmas Special! I’m just obsessed with seeing fake snow. Last year I got to do fake rain. This year I got to do fake snow, and I find that very exciting!”

Cusack added: “Obviously Christmas is pure family time and Nancy has little Colette with her. So that was lovely. Francesca, who plays Colette, was baffled by the fake snow, but we still had a great time!”

Call the Midwife fans can mark the show’s 10th anniversary with a lovely new book compiled by Dr Turner actor Stephen McGann.
