PBS confirms ‘Call the Midwife’ US premiere date for Season 13

American viewers won’t have to wait too much longer for the next season of Call the Midwife!

The BBC’s hit period drama about a group of nurse midwives in the East End of London returned for a thirteenth run earlier this month in the UK.

Eight brand new 60-minute episodes are currently airing on Sunday nights on BBC One and streaming on BBC iPlayer for British audiences.

As Poplar rings in 1969, Call the Midwife welcomes two new young trainee midwives.

Renee Bailey is playing Joyce, while Natalie Quarry joins as Rosalind, with the pair making their debut as Nonnatus House embarks on a new pupil midwife-training scheme.

“It’s such a cliché thing to say, but it is a massive dream come true,” commented newcomer Natalie Quarry in this lovely interview.

“Joining the show has been an amazing step for me, and I’ve been watching the show since I was little,” she explained. “So, you know, I couldn’t be happier with this being my first big job!”

When’s the US release date?

It’s been confirmed that Season 13 will premiere stateside at 8pm ET on Sunday 17 March on PBS Masterpiece.

New episodes of Call the Midwife will air weekly on Sunday evenings through March and April, after Masterpiece’s current triple-bill of Miss Scarlet & the Duke, All Creatures Great & Small and Funny Woman concludes in February.

Executive producer Dame Pippa Harris recently revealed that Season 13 is “one of the most personal in terms of how we see several of our characters go through really tough times,” hinting that there are “big events” coming up.

Filming on the fourteenth season for 2025 is expected to start in England this spring.

Another three seasons of Call the Midwife were officially confirmed last year, promising us new episodes until at least 2026 and taking the midwives into the early 1970s!

Season 12 is available on DVD on Amazon.
