‘Cursed’ first look: 5 pics from Netflix’s new King Arthur drama series
Netflix has released the first set of promotional photos for Cursed.
The upcoming fantasy drama is based on the hit Young Adult book by writer Tom Wheeler and illustrator Frank Miller.
A re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, the series began filming in 2019.
Katherine Langford, best known as Hannah Baker in Netflix’s hit teen drama series 13 Reasons Why, is leading the cast as Nimue.
Langford will be joined by Devon Terrell as Arthur, Gustaf Skarsgård as Merlin, and Sebastian Armesto as King Uther.
The cast also includes Matt Stokoe as Gawain, Lily Newmark as Pym, and Daniel Sharman as the Weeping Monk, alongside Shalom Brune-Franklin, Emily Coates, Billy Jenkins, Bella Dayne, and Peter Mullan.
Cursed will tell the story of gifted teenage heroine Nimue, who is destined to become the famous Lady of the Lake.
Following the death of her mother, Nimue finds an unexpected partner in a humble mercenary called Arthur as they set out on a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.
But as the journey continues, it’s not long before Nimue ends up becoming a symbol of hope and courage as a rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins and their complicit King Uther begins to take shape.
Cursed is described by Netflix as “a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.”
All 10 episodes of Cursed will premiere exclusively on Netflix this summer.
The BBC’s complete Merlin series is available on DVD on Amazon.
