‘Enola Holmes 2’ reveals brand new pics and release date

Netflix has confirmed the release date for Enola Holmes 2!

Based on Nancy Springer’s book series about the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, the first movie premiered on Netflix nearly two years ago.

Enola Holmes received positive reviews and was watched by more than 76 million households in its first 28 days on Netflix, so it wasn’t long before a sequel was announced.

The follow-up started filming in London, England last autumn, and production wrapped back in January.

We got our first sneak peak at Enola Holmes 2 earlier this year, but yesterday Netflix unveiled a set of six exciting new images!

Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown is back in her role as the titular young detective, here seen looking not too happy at having presumably been taken captive by one of the film’s new villains.

Also returning is Henry Cavill (Batman vs Superman) as her older brother, Sherlock Holmes.

Cavill has hinted: “Enola and Sherlock’s relationship has evolved to a place more in line with equals in this sequel. While Sherlock has the experience and his second-to-none mind, he doesn’t have the same emotional wherewithal as Enola, nor does he have the same heart.”

He added: “Whereas in the first film Enola may have learned from Sherlock, in this the tables may have turned.”

The synopsis from Entertainment Weekly reads: “After successfully solving her first case, the young Enola is now following in the footsteps of her famous brother as she attempts to open her own detective agency (and hopefully get out of Sherlock’s shadow).

“Enola’s newest adventure begins after a young girl working in a match factory hires her to locate her missing sister.

“Before long, Enola finds herself drawn into a high-stakes chase across London, journeying from the city’s seedy industrial underbelly to the glitzy galas of high society.”

Also reprising his role from the first movie is Louis Partridge as love interest Tewkesbury:

Other returning characters include Eudoria Holmes, Edith, and Lestrade, played once again by Helena Bonham Carter, Susan Wokoma, and Adeel Akhtar.

However, it’s not yet been revealed if Sam Claflin (Peaky Blinders) will be back as Mycroft Holmes.

New additions to the cast will include Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Doctor Who), David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Hannah Dodd (Harlots), Abbie Hern (The Pact), Gabriel Tierney (Endeavour), and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss.

We’ve got our first look at Duncan-Brewster’s character here:

Of course, the most anticipated part of yesterday’s preview was the release date confirmation!

It’s now been officially revealed that Enola Holmes 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix on Friday 4th November.

Original Enola Holmes director Harry Bradbeer (Grantchester) and writer Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) are both once again directing and writing the sequel.

Millie Bobby Brown previously commented: “Enola holds a special place in my heart — she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues.”
