The return of ‘Enola Holmes’ just got even closer
Filming is now complete on the second Enola Holmes movie!
Based on Nancy Springer’s book series about the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, the first movie premiered on Netflix in 2020.
A sequel was announced last May, after Enola Holmes received positive reviews and was watched by more than 76 million households in its first 28 days on Netflix.
Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown is reprising her role as the titular young detective, alongside Henry Cavill (Batman vs Superman) as her older brother, Sherlock Holmes.
It’s not yet been revealed if Sam Claflin (Peaky Blinders) is back as Mycroft Holmes.
However, we do know that Louis Partridge, Helena Bonham Carter, Susan Wokoma, and Adeel Akhtar definitely are returning as Tewkesbury, Eudoria Holmes, Edith, and Lestrade respectively.
New additions to the cast will include David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Doctor Who), Hannah Dodd (Harlots), Abbie Hern (The Pact), Gabriel Tierney (Endeavour), and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss.
Enola Holmes 2, as it’s known for now – we expect a more interesting title to be revealed soon – began shooting in autumn 2021 in London, England.
The first film’s director Harry Bradbeer (Grantchester) and writer Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) are both once again directing and writing the follow-up.
We know that Enola Holmes 2 is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix later this year.
A release date is looking even closer now, however, with the news that filming has officially wrapped
Netflix has celebrated the completion of production with a fun video on Twitter:

We expect an exact release date for Enola Holmes to be confirmed in the coming months.
Netflix previously commented: “The sequel is afoot! The adventure continues as Millie Bobby Brown & Henry Cavill return to the world of Enola Holmes, reteaming with director Harry Bradbeer & writer Jack Thorne on a second film based on Nancy Springer’s book series about Sherlock Holmes’ brilliant sister.”
Millie Bobby Brown added: “Enola holds a special place in my heart — she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues.”
