We’ve got brilliant news for ‘Grantchester’ fans!
The sixth season of Grantchester hasn’t even premiered yet…
But the show’s cast and crew are already hard at work on Season 7 for next year!
ITV’s popular ’50s crime drama series launched nearly seven years ago, based on the novels by James Runcie.
Following some delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, 2021’s season of Grantchester finally started production last October.
Season 6 is set to air in the UK later this summer on ITV, and PBS recently announced the premiere date for American viewers.
The makers of Grantchester aren’t wasting any time, however, as it was officially revealed today that the show has been renewed for Season 7 and filming is now underway.
We can confirm that Outlander actor Tom Brittney will be back as clergyman Will Davenport, alongside Robson Green (Soldier Soldier) as DI Geordie Keating.
While we wait for the show to return, Amazon Prime members can currently catch up on the first five seasons of Grantchester for free!

Tom Brittney took over from original star James Norton in the fourth season.
By halfway through Season 7, Brittney’s Will Davenport will have featured in more episodes of Grantchester than Norton’s Sidney Chambers.
Just like Endeavour star Shaun Evans, the 30-year-old actor will also be stepping behind the camera.
Tom Brittney will make his Grantchester directorial debut with the new season’s third episode.
Brittney said: “I’m thrilled to be back on set with my Grantchester family and back in our happy place.”
He added: “I’m also absolutely over the moon to be given the opportunity to direct an episode this series, it’s been a life ambition of mine and I can’t wait for the audience to see it (and also I can finally order Robson about!).”
Executive producer Emma Kingsman-Lloyd commented: “All the cast and crew are excited by Tom Brittney making his directorial debut – we know he will create a very entertaining episode.”
Season 7 will air in 2022 on ITV in the UK, and on PBS in the US.
Next year’s episodes will pick up in the long hot summer of 1959, with wedding season in full swing in the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester.
Grantchester is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
