Saltburn star Barry Keoghan to join the cast of Peaky Blinders film
Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan has joined the cast of the upcoming Peaky Blinders film. Irish actor Keoghan is also known for his roles in The Banshees Of Inisherin, Masters of the Air, and The Killing Of A Sacred Deer. Keoghan was recently nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar and won a BAFTA for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin (2023). He was also nominated for the Bafta for Best Actor for his performance in Saltburn (2023).
What is it about?
The hit period crime drama launched in 2013, telling the story of a crime family in Birmingham, England in the early 20th century. It ran for six series, finishing in 2022 and covered the period up to 1934. The film will follow the antics of the infamous Shelby gangster family into the 1940s.
Who is in the cast
So far, series lead Cillian Murphy has been confirmed as returning as notorious crime boss Tommy Shelby. He will be joined by Mission Impossible actor Rebecca Ferguson, but it has not been yet revealed which role she will play.
The core cast members of the series included Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby), Ned Dennehy (Charlie Strong), Natasha O’Keeffe (Lizzie Shelby), Packy Lee (Johnny Dogs), Anya Taylor-Joy (Gina Gray) and Tom Hardy (Alfie) but there is no confirmation yet as to who is returning. Tom Hardy has previously indicated his interest in reprising his role as Alfie.
Who is behind it?
The series’ creator Steven Knight will write and produce, while Caryn Mandabach, Guy Heeley and Cillian Murphy will co-produce. Executive producers include director Tom Harper with David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.
Production will start later this year at a secret location in Birmingham.
