Watch exciting new trailer for second season of ‘Sanditon’

BritBox has released a full trailer for the new season of Sanditon.

The much-loved period drama series was revived with a two-season renewal last year following a passionate campaign from fans.

Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novelSanditon originally premiered nearly three years ago on ITV.

Season 2 commenced filming in summer 2021 in Bristol, England and the six brand new episodes are set to finally arrive next month!

While Theo James unfortunately won’t be back as Sidney, there will be plenty of returning cast members from Season 1, as well as six new regular characters.

Fans have been promised “new romances, friendships and challenges for the residents as the Army make Sanditon their new base.”

Dickensian writer Justin Young has taken over showrunner duties from Sanditon creator Andrew Davies, joined by a number of fresh writers on the team.

The new season finds Charlotte (Rose Williams) taking up the role of governess to Augusta Wilson (Eloise Webb), Alexander Colbourne’s ward and niece, who at the age of 17 pushes against authority and looks set to keep Charlotte on her toes.

Meanwhile, Charlotte’s lively younger sister, Alison Heywood (Rosie Graham), arrives in Sanditon to pursue her own romantic dream!

The Parkers are also back, with Tom Parker (Kris Marshall) striving to rebuild Sanditon. Some unforeseen issues are awaiting him, however, while the secrets and lies of the dysfunctional Denhams continue to cause shockwaves around the sunny seaside town.

Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke), in her final summer season before she turns 21, is looking to establish her own identity, getting up to all kinds of mischief in the search for love… but does she risk being lonelier than ever?

With only a matter of weeks to go until Season 2 begins, BritBox has released a brand new trailer.

The one-minute preview features new footage of the returning cast and Sanditon newcomers.

Back on fine form is Anne Reid (Last Tango in Halifax) as Lady Denham, welcoming back Charlotte with the line “I rather thought we’d seen the last of you…”

“You remain stubbornly unwed, I see,” she later adds.
