Series 4 production of Sister Boniface Mysteries is underway!
Good news for fans of the vespa-riding, crime-solving nun Sister Boniface!
A new fourth series of the beloved series is currently in production. The producers have also confirmed that there will be a feature-length Christmas special episode this year, written by Jude Tindall, the series creator, and directed by Paul Gibson.
What is it about?
The light-hearted crime series follows the crime-solving adventures of nun, moped rider, winemaker, and part-time forensic scientist, Sister Boniface. The series is a spin-off to the long-running BBC mystery drama Father Brown, where Sister Boniface was first introduced to audiences.
Series 3 premiered earlier this year and is currently coming to an end on UKTV.
Who is in the cast?
Additional regular cast members include Max Brown as DI Sam Gillespie, Jerry Iwu as DS Felix Livingstone, and Ami Metcalf as WPC Peggy Button.
Series 4 has also lined up some exciting guest cast members including Les Dennis (Coronation Street), Katherine Kingsley (The Larkins), Martyn Ellis (Renegade Nell), Mina Anwar (The Sarah Jane Adventures), Ed Birch (Cruella), and Daniel Laurie (Call the Midwife).
Who is behind it?
The series was produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions for BritBox International and UKTV, with a team that features Dawn Coulson-Beckett as Script Producer, Executive Producers Neil Irvine (BBC Studios), Stephen Nye and Robert Schildhouse ( BritBox), and Claire Hookway (UKTV).
Neil Irvine said in a statement:
“I’m thrilled that TV’s favorite forensic nun is returning for a fourth series. The alchemy created by Jude, Lorna, and our wonderful cast and Midlands crew continues to delight viewers worldwide. This series sees a serial killer on the loose at the Christmas Pantomime and a threat to the convent itself. I can’t wait for the audience to find out if this is the end for St Vincent’s…”
When’s the release date?
The Christmas Special will air in December 2024 and be available on BritBox International. Series 4 will premiere in 2025 on BritBox at an, as yet, unspecified date.
