‘Enola Holmes 2’ trailer: Millie Bobby Brown returns in Netflix sequel
Enola Holmes is back this autumn!
Based on Nancy Springer’s book series about the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, the first Enola Holmes movie debuted on Netflix a couple of years ago.
The film received great reviews and was seen by over 76 million households in its first month on Netflix, so a sequel was confirmed in May 2021.
With the shoot wrapping up at the start of this year, fans got a preview at Enola Holmes 2 shortly after, with more details and a release date unveiled over the summer.
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown reprises her role as the titular young detective, alongside Henry Cavill (Batman vs Superman) as her older brother, Sherlock Holmes.
Other returning characters include Lord Tewkesbury, Eudoria Holmes, Edith, and Lestrade, played once again by Louis Partridge, Helena Bonham Carter, Susan Wokoma, and Adeel Akhtar.
Brand new cast members will include Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Doctor Who), David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Hannah Dodd (Harlots), Abbie Hern (The Pact), Gabriel Tierney (Endeavour), and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss.
The official synopsis reads: “Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes (Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Cavill), and opens her own agency – only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn’t as easy as it seems.
“Resigned to accepting the cold realities of adulthood, she is about to close shop when a penniless matchstick girl offers Enola her first official job: to find her missing sister.
“But this case proves to be far more puzzling than expected, as Enola is thrown into a dangerous new world – from London’s sinister factories and colorful music halls, to the highest echelons of society and 221B Baker Street itself.
“As the sparks of a deadly conspiracy ignite, Enola must call upon the help of friends – and Sherlock himself – to unravel her mystery. The game, it seems, has found its feet again!”
The first proper look at Enola Holmes 2 was released as part of Netflix’s global fan event Tadum last weekend, with an action-packed two-minute trailer appearing online.
“Adventure strikes again,” we’re told, in a new adventure “where a mystery of historic proportions takes two Holmes to handle.”
