‘Sanditon’ reveals Season 3 release date and first trailer!
PBS has confirmed when the new season of Sanditon begins.
Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, the hit period drama returned for a surprise sophomore season earlier this year following its previous cancellation.
Luckily, the second and third seasons were shot back to back, so there was no doubt about whether the show would return this time.
Brand new pictures unveiled by the Sanditon team last month gave us a tantalising look at the third season’s returning characters.
We also got a sneak peek at the new cast member Edward Davis (Emma, The Little Drummer Girl) as Lord Montrose, with PBS teasing: “Who exactly is this new mystery man?”
Well, it’s not long now until we find out!
When’s the Season 3 release date?
It was officially announced today that Sanditon will return in the US at 9/8c on Sunday 19th March 2023 on PBS.
New episodes will air weekly on Sunday nights through March and April.
Masterpiece wrote on their Facebook page: “Return to Sanditon one last time for the final season, premiering March 19 on MASTERPIECE on PBS.”
They also released the first trailer for the new season, which you can watch here:
The 30-second preview sees a thoughtful-looking Charlotte Heywood pondering: “We can’t choose who we fall in love with…”
Rose Williams, who plays Charlotte, previously hinted: “In Season 3, we see characters meeting with their own unique challenges and really having to dig into deep parts of themselves to find resolve.”
She added: “I hope they come together at the end and maybe even they get their happily ever after, like we always wanted them to—an Austen ending, like it’s tied in a bow.”
Over in the UK, it’s expected that the third season of Sanditon will arrive in the UK on Mondays each week, just hours after the US premiere, streaming on BritBox (or perhaps the newly-launched streaming service ITVX.)
Season 3 then air on ITV in the UK later in 2023, like the second season was, most probably in the summer.
Sanditon is available on DVD on Amazon.
