‘All Creatures Great and Small’ releases lovely behind-the-scenes book

The makers of All Creatures Great and Small have published a wonderful new book for fans.

PBS and Channel 5’s hit revival series is based on author James Herriot’s much-loved collection of stories.

The cosy period drama follows the heartwarming and humorous adventures of a young country vet in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s.

Two seasons of the new All Creatures Great and Small have aired so far, becoming Channel 5’s biggest original drama series since it premiered to wide acclaim in 2020.

Six brand new episodes and another Christmas special are currently filming in Yorkshire, England.

Not only was the show renewed for a third season earlier this year, it was also revealed that a fourth season has been confirmed too!

While we patiently wait for the show’s return, fans can enjoy reading a wonderful new behind-the-scenes book.

Out now and available to buy on Amazon for $14.95, it’s titled The World of All Creatures Great and Small: Welcome to Skeldale House.

The official synopsis reads: “Welcome to the wonderful world of Skeldale House: the veterinary hospital for the locals of Darrowby village and their animals.

“In this exclusive behind-the-scenes book, go through the doors of the famous 1930s practice and discover the real-life inspirations for the TV remake of All Creatures Great and Small. Offering exclusive insight into the making of the show, and paying homage to its impressive heritage, including Herriot’s bestselling memoirs and the long-running series, but also to the incredible backdrop of the Yorkshire countryside, this book is the ultimate celebration of a cast of characters – human and animal – who have been bringing us joy for over fifty years.”

The World of All Creatures Great and Small: Welcome to Skeldale House features exclusive interviews with cast members Nicholas Ralph, Samuel West, Rachel Shenton, Callum Woodhouse and Anna Madeley.

Readers can learn about the show’s vet advisor, the animal trainers, and the animals themselves, as well as finding out about the director Brian Percival, the make-up stylists, and the production team.

Reviews online have described the book as “a wonderful insight” and “like a visit with the cast and crew.”

Season 3 will premiere in the UK this autumn on Channel 5, before arriving in the US in early 2023 on PBS.
