Inspired by the sagas of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, Vikings launched in 2013 and was a huge hit for the History channel.

Netflix are making the follow-up series, which will feature “the most famous Vikings known to history.”

Vikings: Valhalla started filming last summer in Ireland.

Sam Corlett (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is playing Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson (The Witcher) is playing Freydis Eriksdotter, and Leo Suter (Sanditon) is playing Harald Sigurdsson.

The cast also includes Bradley Freegard (Keeping Faith), Jóhannes Jóhannesson (Cursed), Laura Berlin (Immenhof – The Adventure of a Summer), David Oakes (The Pillars of the Earth), Caroline Henderson (Tuya Siempre), Pollyanna McIntosh, and Asbjørn Krogh Nissen.

The official synopsis reads: “The all-new Vikings: Valhalla begins in the early 11th century and chronicles the legendary adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived – Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, Harald Hardrada and the Norman King William the Conqueror.

“These men and women will blaze a path as they fight for survival in the ever changing and evolving world.”

The complete first season of Vikings: Valhalla will premiere exclusively on Netflix on Friday 25th February 2022.
