‘Unforgotten’, ‘The Bay’ and ‘Grace’ release dates for new 2023 seasons
Three of ITV’s biggest crime dramas are back this spring!
Unforgotten, The Bay and Grace all return with brand new mysteries.
Here we’ve put together a summary of when and where you can watch the latest seasons of these hit shows:
Unforgotten – Season 5
Following the heartbreaking departure of Nicola Walker’s character Cassie at the end of Season 4, award-winning Irish actress Sinéad Keenan (Being Human) joins the cast of Unforgotten for the fifth season.
She’s playing DCI Jessica “Jessie” James, alongside BAFTA nominated Sanjeev Bhaskar, who reprises his role as DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan.
Once again written by series creator Chris Lang, Season 5 opens with a severed leg being discovered inside a chimney. As the team get to work identifying the victim, Cassie’s replacement has a rocky start as she clashes with a grieving Sunny.
(If you’re missing Unforgotten star Nicola Walker on your telly, do check out her brilliant crime drama Annika, which returns for a second season later this year on PBS in the US and Alibi in the UK!)
When is it on?
Season 5 has already started in the UK, airing at 9pm on Monday nights on ITV1 – but don’t worry if you’ve missed the first couple of episodes, as it’s available to watch on ITV’s new streaming service ITVX.
In the US, Unforgotten will premiere on PBS later in the year as part of their Masterpiece Mystery strand on Sunday nights.
Back in 2021, Season 4 launched on PBS just over three months after the finale aired in the UK, so hopefully American viewers won’t have too long to wait!
The Bay – Season 4
Morecambe Police’s Family Liaison Officer, DS Jenn Townsend – played by Marsha Thomason – is working late when an emergency is called in as The Bay returns for a fourth season.
Jenn races to the scene to find horror unfolding for a broken family, the Metcalfs. As they face overwhelming loss, Jenn must gain their trust to help Manning and the MIU uncover the truth of what has happened.
Meanwhile, back at home, Jenn’s got troubles of her own as she and Chris tackle the realities of having a house full of teenagers.
When is it on?
Season 4 begins tonight in the UK, airing at 9pm on Wednesdays on ITV1 over the next month or so.
The Bay returns in the US on BritBox later this month.
Grace – Season 3
John Simm is back as Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace in three new feature-length films based on Peter James’ award-winning novels.
In the third season of Grace, as East Sussex police bid farewell to ACC Alison Vosper, the announcement of her replacement is not welcome news for Grace.
Shaken by the recent sighting of Sandy, Roy attempts to get closer to the truth while trying to move forward with Cleo, as he is drawn into three sinister investigations.
When is it on?
Grace returns on ITV1 at 8pm on Sunday 19th March.
Season 3 will arrive in the US on BritBox later this April.
Also returning this year on ITV1 and PBS for detective drama fans are Grantchester and Van der Valk.
The final season of Endeavour is coming to PBS soon too, after it concludes in the UK this weekend!
The first four seasons of Unforgotten are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
